It wasn’t entirely painless, but looking around the waiting room this morning, I suspect my problems weren’t the worst present.
I did overhear two solicitors talking about someone’s rent arrears, and one of them said, “well, that’s less than my mortgage payment”, which is impressive as the amount they were talking about was almost 2 grand.
It was a fun and exciting day out, and they didn’t quite win.
Woo.

A big day dawns tomorrow after, I expect, only a few hours of restless sleep.
It’s my fault, of course, that things have come to this - and it’s got nothing to do with my taking advice on legal matters as set in stone, and therefore not realising that very few things in life aren’t subject to a little give and take.
There’s that interweb thing I’ve heard of, for example.
Silly me.
I’d say wish me luck, but honestly, I have my health, and a happy family. Admittedly, my ex-wife isn’t letting me see my boys at the moment, but I doubt they are anything but happy anyhow.
Enjoy your day.
I’ll be the one wearing the tie, wishing I had time to go to the toilet again, here, at 10:15.

We all know, of course, that politicians tend to fall into the categories of “idiot” or “liar”. I’m sure there are other variations, warmonger, perhaps.
So which one does Treasury chief secretary Stephen Timms fit in?
He states “What the Chancellor’s been saying for a long time now is that public sector pay rises need to be consistent with our inflation target, which is 2%.” as justification for some of the shockingly small payrises awarded to Nurses (2%) and GPs (0%).
He doesn’t, I notice, point out that some public sector workers are actually getting 9.2%.
I don’t doubt that our boys abroad are doing a good job, and they deserve to be paid for fighting in a pointless, endless war, but surely nurses, for example, are equally important?
In a decent, fair society, there shouldn’t be any need for charity - everyone should make sure everyone else is okay. But of course, Mr “I want to leave a legacy when I finally piss off out of Down Street” probably doesn’t realise that.
So I’m saddened, but also happy to see Nurses, if no-one else, getting assistance from an unexpected quarter.
Mayday For Nurses
